Sloping Stirrup Treads

i use them and they are great, help me bring my knee right into the saddle and i sit those bucks so much better now, takes a while to get use to them but are well worth it IMO

I've used them since the beginning of the year having ridden a friend's horse whose saddle had them.
i used to find that trying to keep my toes turned in whilst riding gave me pins and needles on the outside of my foot. since switching to the sloping stirrup treads this has drastically helped and is much more comfortable.
i've had one or two people ask what they are for as they are not the most common sight but i wouldn't change back. my instructor told me that they are not so good fro flatwork but brilliant for jumping despite this i have not had a problem with them either SJ, DR or XC

I also use mine with spring stirrups and i find that the combination is a great help in keeping heels down and the leg in a secure position

definately worth a try! my pair of stirrup treads only cost me £2.50!

p.s. yes they do slope outsied to inside but you can also get ones which slope from the front to the back

Thanks. I was replacing my treads and came across sloping treads in a bargain bucket, so bought them out of curiosity. Hacked with them today and was surprised how they kept my leg in a better position. I have a huge problem with toes pointing out. As I concentrate on flat work I have yet to discover if they will be a help or a hinderance. Certainly if I was still jumping I think they would be of huge benefit as my knee was in contact with the saddle without effort/tension - in dressage I'm trying to keep a loose knee contact so there lies the conflict! Whatever an interesting, inexpensive experiment.
