Slow coach- which whip?

When you say slow coach I presume you mean you want to hack with a whip to get your horse moving?

Personally I hack with a short whip as I find them easier to use to push/pull gates with etc and I always carry them as a 'just in case' than because I need it!
 
I ride a slow hacker too and hack with a schooling whip. Firstly, it means you can give a quick tap tap without taking your hands off the reins easily, and it has more effect if you just wiggle it without touching it. Good for when I need to reach gates too as horse doesn't like going too close! The other thing I find it good for as well is sticking it out to the side if a car looks like it may pass too close, does the trick!
 
Schooling whip here too. Purely because I lost my short one and havnt got round to replacing it! If hacking off-road and riding 2 abreast with someone else you do have to be aware which side it is though - I've poked a few people with mine by accident!
 
Schooling whip atm as I'm riding a young horse, and sometimes need to back up my instructions.
Also means I can clip the kids on the hat and they can't reach me ;P

With my boy I use a schooling whip, not because he needs it but to help keeps cars out/his quarters in if needed.
With my daughter's pony I use a short whip to help keep his shoulder where it should be as he can be quite nappy and drops out through his shoulder to avoid going forward and I've found a slap on the shoulder stops it
