JUST FOR ANYONES INFO.
MY HORSE HAD BEEN SLUGGISH FOR A WHILE AND I KNEW SHE WAS NOT RIGHT I DID THE USUAL (TEETH,BACK, WORM THEN WORM COUNT, FEED ETC ETC) THEN CALLED OUT MY VET WHO SAID SHE HAD AN UNFIT HEART AND HAD PHARANGEAL RESTRICTION SO TO DO CARDIOVASCULAR WORK. SHE SAID TAKING BLOODS WAS NOT NECESSARY.
I WAS NOT HAPPY SO ASKED FOR A SECOND OPINION FROM A TRUSTED VET/ACUPUNCTURIST WENDY VERE (WHO IS UNFORTUNATELY NOT LOCAL TO ME OTHERWISE I WOULD USE HER ALL THE TIME ). WHEN SHE CAME SHE INSTANTLY DIAGNOSED THAT MY HORSE HAD A CHRONIC VIRAL INFECTION CULMINATING IN THE SORES ON HER SKIN WHICH WERE DUE TO HER LIVER BEING IN OVERLOAD DUE TO TOXICITY.
SHE GAVE HER ACUPUNCTURE AND ADVISED A LIVER DETOX DIET .IE NO SUGARS(MOLASSES) AND LOW PROTEIN
SHE ALSO ADVISED ME TO CONTACT INDIAN HERBS EQUINE WHO WERE BRILLIANT WITH THEIR ADVICE EVEN THOUGH I RANG AFTER OFFICE HOURS.I HAVE NOW ORDERED AND STARTED MY HORSE ON A DETOX/ LIVER BOOST VARIETY OF SUPPLEMENTS.
SO IF YOUR HORSE HAS STRANGE SPOTS ON THEIR SKIN(MINE STARTED ON THE NEAR SHOULDER AND SPREAD TO MOST OF HER NEARSIDE, THEY WERE VERY HOT AND SHE DID NOT LIKE THEM TOUCHED. THEY HAVE NOW ERUPTED AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE HAIR LOSS IN PATCHES ) AND YOU CANT GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT , IT MIGHT NOT JUST BE URTUCARIA(HIVES)IT COULD BE SOMTHING MORE SINISTER LIKE MY HORSES CONDITION. AS I SAID MY HORSE ALSO HAD SIGNS OF SLUGGISHNESS WHICH INITIALLY I PUT DOWN TO THE HEAT.OBVIOUSLY SHE WAS FEELING RATHER KN-----ED TO SAY THE LEAST POOR THING.
IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED I WILL POST AN UPDATE ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE INDIAN HERBS.
JUST WANTED TO PUT THIS ON AS I SEARCHED EVERYWHERE FOR AN ANSWER TO HER SKIN CONDITION AND WAS NOT SUCESSFULL UNTIL OF COURSE IT WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE VET/ACUPUNCTURIST.
