Well we have a 6 month old bedlington terrier, and she is on wet dog food, either tescos own or winalot, pedigree is far too expensive! She gets 3 meals a day, but we are slowing it down to 2 meals. We are going to put her on hard food soon, it is much cheaper and its just as good as wet food! Hope this helps!

i feed my terrier in the morning half tin of wet food and then in afternoon she has a cup of dry complete biscuits which she picks at over the evening,i walk her twice a day but she is still a little fat pudding and i rarely feed her treats

I feed my patterdale eukanuba. He's very fit and well on it. I just put some down when we get home in the evening and he picks at it.
He doesn't get up in time for any in the morning - stays in bed until the very last moment when I'm putting my boots on!

Thank you, its just that my 8 month old westie is getting very picky with her food, but will sit there licking her lips at mine!
She doesnt want anything in the mornings, and sometimes lays about until 9 or 10 ish before waking up properly anyway.
She is on tins at the moment (winalot) but to be honest if shes going to leave it Im going to go back onto tesco.
Or thinking of going onto dry food, oh I dont know, just wish she would settle and eat something and actually like it!

Mine was very picky as a pup. Just not a very food orientated chap! But obviously whatever I'm eating is marvelous!
I was throwing away loads so I ended up just putting dried food down for him to pick at as and when over the evening. I tend to take the attitude that a healthy dog won't starve itself so if I know I'm providing good food and the dog looks well I don't worry how much he eats. I am only a relatively novice dog owner recounting my personal experience though so happy to be corrected!
I have been told that the dried foods they really tuck into aren't necessarily the best as they are covered in sugars so they eat more than they need.

Yeah, shes not losing weight, I weighed her the other day to make sure. She tends to be more hungry in the evening, so maybe Il just give her a good meal at tea time and leave some dry food for her for the mornings, so long as shes having something substantial so she doesnt waste away

My fusspot terrier will only eat Tesco dog feed finest chicken and bacon, she has 2 trays at tea time, she has dry food down all the time to pick at. When we go to bed at 10.30 she comes to bed for a bit then always trots down stairs for a late night snack then comes back to bed, she wont eat in the morning when she gets up, but she is lazy in the morning and gets up late.

I usually feed Waitrose foil trays. My Yorkie gets half of a 150g size in the morning and the other half in the evening. At lunch time he gets a handful of Royal Canin yorkshire terrier dry food.

He also gets a dental chew, and usually a small rawhide pencil, and when I go out I chuck a handful of terrier meal on the floor as a distraction.

He is in great health and just the right weight.

Some breeds like westies are prone to skin problems so i would feed a wheat/gluten free diet like oscars or similar.Lots of foods with colourants might appear apetising but are not good for dogs, you get what you pay for .

Anyone feeding wet, PLEASE read the ingredients - you will normally find the meat contant is 4% - yes really - and the moisture is about 80%. Go for a decent dry food, again check the ingredients, as a rule of thumb the bigger the name, and the more adverts of theirs you see, the worse the food!

A good pet shop should be able to advise you without ripping you off, if they can't then take your business elsewhere!
