Small horse boxes - any problems off-road?

Morning all,

I'd like to pick your collective brains please. I'm currently considering up-grading from a trailer and 4WD to a small box, probably 4.5 tonnes as I'm doing a lot more travelling and staying away with my pony. I just wondered how these little boxes cope with mud/wet grass and pot-holed tracks (particularly due to their low floors). Would I be better thinking about a compact 7.5 tonne?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you.

I have a 3.5t (coach built type) with a 2.4L engine. If you are at maximum weight you can wheel spin on wet grass, but on the other side - the lesser weight means you don't sink so much when it's muddy. I've never yet needed rescuing...
