Went to a show at the weekend which was holding minor qualifiers and quite honestly the entries were not that brilliant quality wise however......
The winner of the smalls was ridden by a known professional (the only one competing as far as I could ascertain) and it was the biggest small hunter I had ever seen, also the victory was something of a Pyrrhic one as there was nothing to touch it yet it did not have top notch quality.
It was however the size of the animal which went totally unremarked upon and it took the championship.
What more can I say!

Hmmm like the time my daughter inadvertently entered a Pony jumping class and came fourth. All the other "ponies" in the winners line up were significantly bigger than our 15hh cob - which was why when we turned up late and only just got an entry we didn't realise the mistake.

I used to do the small hunter classes a few years ago. I had a 'spot on' 15.2hh gelding and full up middleweight and often at the bigger shows he would look like a 13.2hh next to some of the professional rides.

Used to so annoy me as sometimes you would even get the comment of Nice horse shame he wasnt bigger... well if he was he wouldnt have been in the class. Grrrrrr.

Happens in all the showing classes...its unfair and blatent cheating

I just can't understand this mentality. Do they not feel a tinge of naughtiness?? But then they wouldn't be able to get away with it if the rules were actually enforced... Something really does need to be done!!!
