i have a little 5 yr old companion pony with me at the moment. Was quite thin when she can 3 weeks ago and has steadily been putting on weight since then with the help of some good dr green and a feed of Speedibeet linseed conditioning cube, glug of oil, vit and min supplement, magox and salt. She is unclipped and has been unrugged for the last week in this nice weather and is mounting nicely. However 4 days ago she came up with lots of 10p size hard bumps in the sides of and under her belly (this is where her coat is thickest) and she isn't keen on me touching them. Flies don't seem to be an issue as we still have a good breeze and there doesn't seem to be many around. Can't think of anything that has changed in her routine particularly but have noticed she is loving the salt lick!
Does anyone know what the bumps are? Grass related? It's growing like mad here... Should I cut all the hard feed out to see if she is getting too much protein?
