I have found 4 small sores on the top of my horse's front leg, only on 1 leg and not anywhere else. They are scabby now but were weeping this clear liquid, they aren't hot and not too swollen.
I asked people at the yard because I had no idea what they were and they said he could have cut himself on something and its got a bit infected, but they look like spots or insect bites rather than a cut, but they don't seem to be irritating him. I trimmed the areas and cleaned them with Hibiscrub and then applied sudocrem and they seem to be healing nicely, I do this in the evening when I bring him in and leave them in the day. I noticed them yesterday.
Has anyone's horse had this, or has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks Nx

Inside or outside of the top of ned's leg Nat? Could be rainscald which would defo start to clear up with the Hibiscrub/Sudocream route. It it's sort of in his armpit region, could it be that he had some hidden mud there and it's rubbed a sore area? Again the Hibiscrub route would have sorted it. If ned is a veteran, is it possible they are sarcoids? I'd give them a few more days with the careful attention you're giving now and see if they clear up. If not, el vetto time! x

They're on the inside 1/2 of his leg so I doubt its rainscald...he's only 7 so don't think they're sarcoids either, I mentioned those and everyone told me they weren't. Anyway the main thing is they're healing now, I'm not bathing them cos they're scabby and I don't want them to open up again, I'm just applying the sudocrem everyday and that seems to be working. Thanks for replying.
