Im hoping someone like Bananaman can explain it to me in my language

Ah, that makes sense - thank you!!

(im quite ashamed that i dont actually know *runs off and hides in embarassment*)

So Big Tour is Inter I to GP and Small Tour is Advanced to PSG?

well I 'think' that is right but i so know someone will come and correct me LOL

Its basically all the FEI tests split into two levels as is my understanding, and the above splits are in my mind for whatever reason! hmmm BD rule book handy anyone....

Right so it goes

Prelim>Novice>Elementary>Medium>Advanced Medium> Advanced>PSG>Inter 1>Inter 2>GP

Is that right??

Cheers, I always used to forget about the inter's and thought it went from PSG to GP LOL! That was before I became a fellow dressage peep hehe!!! You know at the finals (summer/winter/AFF) when do you have to start doing a Kur. When I hear people doing dressage to music at say Novice level, is this a separate class? What I mean is when you qualify for the finals, do you have to have a music routine as well????

im not quite sure what you mean - but at GP level you do the GP test, then i think its the top 15 go on to do the Kur, which is GP to music.

At every other level you either qualify for the music class at that level if you have been doing the music qualifiers, or you qualify for the normal class at that level. You dont do both unless you qualify for both.

Right I get you, what I meant (not very good at explaining things!) is I know GP riders have the test then the Kur etc. but I just had a bit of a blonde moment and though that happened at all levels at the big finals?!!! So the only time you have to ride to music is if you qualify for a music class. Say If I qualified for the winter or summer finals at Elementary or medium, you do not need music for the final phase.
God I am stupid, of course you don't need music!!!

can't remember which section but I open eached and searched for the word 'tour' in one of them it came up twice once for small once for big abotu grading points and to which level they apply....

CentreBHS a 'Kur' is a freestyle to music. At GP national and international level sometimes PSG up the top x (normally 15) from the standard test will qualify to compete in a Kur final. This through very much depends on the competition.

For example at WEG everyone does the GP the top 30 (i think) do the GP Special and then the top 15 from the Special go forward to compete in the Kur.

At Aachen last week though in the CDI (rather than the main CDIO) all did the GP then riders choose either to do the Special or the Kur and not both.

At Prelim-Inter for natinoal comps in the UK you only do the freestyle if you specifically qualfiy for the freestyle through seperate qualifiers. The finals for which are held at the winter champs at Solihull. The GP national champ is help soley at the summer champs and includes the GP freestyle.

Hope that helps

Katie

Yep, very good explanation, I just couldn't get my words out right lol!!!
I didn't think you had to but it just confused me a little with some people talking about novice dressage to music at winter finals. I now realise these are different classes altogether than the normal Novice classes at the Champs.
