Stuff now is different to stuff back then... does stuff still smell?

Everyone remembers the smelly welly and the distinctive smell of the oil cloth, soap sponge, hat pong... what are todays new smells now that we have a whole rack full of new materials, inventions and stuff in general.

Do we whiff as much as we used to?

My current yard's tack room is only for saddles and bridles so it does have the leather smell and the smell of sweaty unwashed numnahs which belongs to one person (IMe there's always one who puts the same old stinking rug or numnah on their horse , when it has about a years worth of grot on it) . My old yard tack room housed pretty much everything from tack and rugs to boots so it smelt a bit musty. I think in the latter days before I left it stank if zaflora as we had a new livery who was crazily mad on mopping and disinfecting the yard with zaflora every week.

I have a stinky metal polish cloth, my spare room smells of leather from all the tack in there, my car smells of brand new wellies at the moment. The horses smell of shampoo (tails), fly spray (summer) and hay (winter) :smile3:
