Hi Guys any tips? Washed it a couple of weeks ago with the hose pipe (he seemed to enjoy it!). It is really smelling now (my sharer even text me to tell me haha).
I use natural yoghurt, the live stuff - unflavoured of course! keep it out of the fridge for a while so it warms up and gets 'live' again. Apply liberally - the yoghurt contains friendly bacteria and these restore the correct balance of things.
Stinky gets a very grubby willy - one of those sort of geldings that produces a lot of smeg and also rubs his belly in the dirt. I wash it only with water - stick the hose up and then remove any loose smeggy bits with my hand - grubby job but he is good at having it done.
If I swig him out every week or so, he is fine, but in summer leave for a couple of weeks and he smells and has black gunge on his legs.
In spring it is given a spring clean with a little sheath cleanser as he is better over winter plus I don't want to freeze his todger with the hose and then back to just water.
I don't think the yoghurt will work on him unless it keeps mud and grit out

Vet says never wash in anything other than water, if necessary
I agree i rarely use anything other than water however my vet advised using a small amount of hibiscrub occasionally and used it himself when my horse had an infection.
Oh interesting. My lad has this over the wkend. So I cleaned with veg oil. Nothing much happened then his sheath swelled so got the vet out. He has got a possible kidney or bladder infection. But my lad was very down generally. Sorry dont want to you worry you, I would get the vet out just incase.
