smilies still cann't get the hang of them, HELP!!!!!

Everytime I answer a post, I like to add a smilie, but they only come up on the RE, not where I want them, have tried to follow the FAQ, must be a thick head, well it's my age you know. So can some intelligent person spell it out to me in very simple terms, how to do them. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw your post asking for help, I went back into the bowels of the forum to find the names of the bits you needed to go into, came back to NL and couldn't find you again, all the time trying to remember the sequence you needed to follow! Argh!

So, here's a post just for you

Go into 'User CP', which is at the left of the dark brown/red bar above the threads;
Go into: Settings and Options;
Go into: Edit options;
Scroll all the way down to the bottom, to Miscallaneous: in here there are two boxes, one of them gives you the choice of having Standard, go for that one.

Hm. Hope that makes sense

How to get HHO smileys : (extended version)

Go into User CP towards the top left corner (just above the forum areas) and a Your Control Panel column will turn up,
below Settings & Options go into Edit Options,
scroll down to Miscellaneous Options (the last topic),
after it says Message Editor Interface, there is a box where it might say Basic Editor - A simple text box,
change that to the second option = Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls.
Then click the button Save Changes.

When you return to the forum, if you click the Post Reply button to write your next reply (= not using the Quick Reply box), a box of smileys and a few other things will become available, if you do use the Quick Reply box, there will now be a Go Advanced button below the Quick Reply box, press that and a box with smileys and the few other things will become available.

Sometimes the smilies just don't work, espec this one which is ironic . Even with the right symbols they don't magic into smilies , even if you click on it to post it. However most of the time it's fine
