Many moons ago there were some pro-hunting pictures than an anti thought they would set up a hotlink to. The owner changed the links around so that instead of hunting pictures there were ladies doing rude things with gentlemen (or not as the case may be) - admin took exception to such shenanigans and so all markup was deleted. As a result nobody can use smilies or post any legitimate piccies.
A true case of the minority ruining it for the majority, but there you go.
