Rant- pip was on the long line today (as last time she was off it took her ten minutes and me rounding her up to catch her again.) She doesn't run away just doesn't come close enough to catch. And the rest of the time she runs up and sits infront of you. She can be called away from things. Anyway.
She was on a long line see two dogs with a couple so call her in. She stops abou a metre away so I bring her in the rest of the way and she walks next to me. Pass the labs keeping themselves to themselves. Pip pulls on the lead to see them but no barking as soon as they pass she forgets about them. I was chuffed to bits no freezing with fear no barking no trying to run back to them and almost recalled all the way. But the women gave me THE dirtiest look at my disobedient dog. I need a tee shirt that says I have only had her three months and she is a darn sight better than she was. Or something more catchy.

Rant over!

If it helps, I had a similar experience on Sunday when naughty Henry went up to two dogs on the lead that we happened upon suddenly in the woods:o The dog owners were fine and brushed aside all my apologies (I think they had only had the dogs a short time, so were not letting them off for that reason rather than any other), but this woman with a JRT tutted at me - Henry went straight past her dog, and all she had seen was him playing nicely - if at high speed! - with another off-lead dog:mad:

I don't know about you, but I spent quite some time afterwards composing witty and cutting remarks that I should have made if only my brain worked fast enough:rolleyes:

Don't even give them a second thought! If thats all they've got to worry about in their lives... Obviously not real dog people! Our new 1yr old lab from a rescue was off the lead in a field in the snow, and completely hyper at it all being white, and he went charging off towards a lady and another dog in the distance. When I got to him, I discovered that the lady was about 80, and her dog was grey, lame and ancient. He'd nearly sent them both flying, and if anyone deserved a tutt it was me. I apologised profusely, and the old lady just said, "don't worry dear, he's only a pup isn't he - thats what they do!" Thats a doggy person for you!
