Molly had a bit of a cough and a slightly snotty nose a while back. She was also a bit flat but soon got over it all. Then about a week ago she started coughing again and had quite a bit of thick snot so I got the vet out. She listened to her lungs and said they were fine but put her on a weeks antibiotics and a week off work. Haven't seen her for a few days but just spoke to yard manager who said she is fine in herself, hasn't coughed at all but still is a bit snotty. We're now wondering if it could be an allergy? Would it help to maybe put her on a respiratory product? Going to take her for a plod tonight and I'll see how she feels as she is not normally a quiet horse, will also try phone vet just wondered what everyones opinions/experiences are.
Thanks

As you may know Patrick is allergic to grass I have used a few respiratory supplements at the recommendation of my vet and not seen much of a difference to be honest but then again every horse is different. Patrick's allergy shows up as breathing difficulties though not a snotty nose so it could be worth a try in Molly's case.

Edited to add I have tried Equistro Secreta Pro and Respadril

Thanks Jo, actually I did have her on Secreta Pro the first time she got it, wasn't sure if it helped or she just got better on her own, but maybe worth a try again. Don't like to see my baby unwell...

don,t want to scare you. my horse had bad snotty nose, pool of thick green stuff. turned out to be cancer tumours in his sinus. pretty serious at time, but now almost recovered, still gets a bit snotty, ie. damp weather, or when have to be stabled 24/7. just keep careful eye on things. Get checked if not clear up soon.

Have you had swabs done?

It could be she is a strangles carrier and therefore only showing mild symptoms when something knocks her immune system (like a virus etc). Worth having them done in my opinion.
