Just wondered if anyone had come across this before.

I have a little two year old miniature filly which I bought two months ago. I didn't have to travel her very far, but once I put her into the stable the next day I noticed weepy eyes and a snotty nose. I put the eyes watering down to the fact that she'd travelled in a trailer with the top front and back doors open. The nose stayed ruuny for a few days.

After a week it all cleared up and she was let out. A couple of times I noticed mucas on the floor and so I didn't let her out with others. This soon cleared up and off she went with the heard.

I've now noticed the runny nose again and am wondering if it's a stress related issue as she's in with a mare that's no very keen on her.

The stuff coming from her nose looks thick and is a cream colour. She is not lethargic, drinking, eating and running around happily. Obvioulsy I will ask my vet to investigate, but has anyone come across this with youngsters before?

We had a Highland that developed the snotty nose but was accompanied with a cough rather than runny eyes and it turned out to be a dust allergy. She improved with soaked hay and bedded on shavings. If ever she was given unsoaked hay the next day we would find the snotty bits on the floor (lovely!) so whenever we could she would be turned out.

This was one of my first thought as I stabled her for a week on arrival. She's been turned out for a fair few weeks now and doesn't go into a stable. I'm lucky not to have to feed hay right now as she's a miniature and still has a lot of grass.

Not so much now, but I do find bits of snot everywhere.
