Just called up a feed shop to enquire about pricing on on linseed

well was there any need to be snotty and rude? I dont think so!

Its fair enough voicing your opinion but when you have no idea who I am, what horse I have, what he does ect

grrr point less rant but no need is there really

Gah I can't stand bad service! Did they try to sell you something else or tell you he didn't need it?

Our most local place is convenient and has an ok range of stuff but the advice I have received there is a bit of a joke. I went one time just get some chaff to put antibiotics in, I said do you have anything without molasses as its summer and horse is already round and hyper enough, the guy went off on a rant about how people think molasses is the devil and how can it be that bad if its in everything, I ended up buying the stickiest brown chaff there I think, fine since it was just a bit for medicine, but then when I had got rid of said stuff I went again to buy some definitely low sugar stuff for my new good doer, was not going to get trapped again especially for her so went quietly in perusing the bag labels, woman comes out, slightly better informed than previous guy, ended up with hi fi lite, its fine and my horse wasn't going to die, but I wanted no molasses and preferably no alfalfa because both make her a bit stressy. I just think if I worked in a feed shop I'd surely learn something about the feed just by having a look at the bags every now and then.

I just go further away to places I prefer shopping at now, no good supporting people who don't make an effort!

There's only one tack shop I like locally, but sadly she doesn't do feed - I used to order everything through her, but she moved. One local shop didn't know that Dengie Hi-Fi contained alfalfa and tried to sell it to me as alfalfa free chaff. Made me feel a right idiot (two of them ganging up on me), until one thought to look it up in their book...

Another one further away was on my way back from collecting a selling page bargain, so I called in. The assistant was in my face as soon as I walked in, so I just said that I wasn't normally in the area and was browsing (true! It was sale time, after all). She proceeded to follow me closely around the shop, to the point I nearly walked out. I did need a hoof brush, so I asked her where they were (well, I didn't need to find her!) and took it to the till, partly as I'd had enough of being shop-stalked. At the till, the other assistant said, 'Is that it?!?'. I was beyond polite by that point and asked if there was a minimum purchase amount to be allowed to shop here. She shut up and took my money. Worst place I'd been in for a long time and won't be back any time soon, despite having friends in the area.

Where I buy feed is ok. A bit cliquey, but when you ask for help, they're very friendly and quite honest if they don't know.
