snow and horses who live out 24/7

Don't think they mind the snow.

If you bandaged up they'd be colder, as their body heat would melt the snow on them and ultimately and you'd get a soggy wet bandage which would chill the leg IMO. Whereas with the hair on the legs it forms a waterproof insulating layer with all that air under the coat

I've designed a horsey snow suit, like the ones you have for babies, keeps them toasty warm right down to their hooves!

I'm going to send them abroad next year though, to somewhere warm and sunny, and bring them back in late spring, a long winter holiday and no danger of getting chilly!

Mine have always been fine, even the ones with clipped legs. I have used leg wraps in the past, but to be honest, they seem a little unneccasary!

Most horse who are able to live out will be fine, last winter I turned all of mine out when the snow got really bad as it was safer for them than negotiating slippery concrete. They all loved it, the TB and TB crosses were rugged appropriately, highland and section A not rugged at all. None of them appeared to feel the cold at all, including a 32 year old :)

Here's the highland, he was as warm as toast under that layer of snow!
