Shows just how ignorant they are about animal welfare. They seem to ignore the fact that a fox hound in kennels has more ability to express natural behaviur and freedom of expression than the average domestic pet, but like a pet is still happier when able to run about, play in snow and investigate smells. If LACS can't even get basic canine care right, and insist on telling fibs about calves eaten by hounds then why should we trust them on anything else they spout??

They don't seem ever to have heard that dogs are pack animals do they? Living in kennels in a pack is a damned sight nearer to their natural way of life than lying in front of someones fire, unfit and overfed. And they seem to have taken no account of the fact that these animals are FIT, and it's not fair to keep them without a run, snow or no snow.

What next - we are cruel to ride horses?

They are certainly losing credibility with me, with some of their pronouncements lately.

"if the conditions in the kennels are such that the hounds are not freely able to exercise the five freedoms, there is a serious animal welfare problem that needs to be addressed. "

Do'h! and how do they address it? by exercising them! FFS!

If you keep a dog in a house there is a serious animal welfare problem to be addressed. SO YOU TAKE IT OUT FOR A WALK!!!!!!

D'OH!!!!!!!!!

What the fup??????????

Yeah, cause being shut away in kennels is so much better, what is their stance on puppy farms, where dogs live for years in sheds and never see daylight?!

AHAHAHHAAHHA

"if the conditions in the kennels are such that the hounds are not freely able to exercise the five freedoms, there is a serious animal welfare problem that needs to be addressed. "

so...they should make the run 10 miles wide to ensure the hounds can be exercised properly without having to leave the run? my dogs cant "freely" exercise in the house..hence EVERYONE takes their dogs for walks.

this is hilarious, are they really THAT desperate??

"..are they really THAT desperate??"

Er, yes. Duggie Batchelor is paid 100k a year for being Chief Exec of a membership organisation of no more than 3,000 members. And they think the Hunting Act is good law.

The joke that is LACS: the gift that keeps on giving.

You a troll xlthlx, if you let them chase whatever they want than they could end up being shot by farmers...

I farm the land where I take them so that is highly unlikely. + I meant wildlife.

What a load of utter rubbish, so allowing dogs exercise is cruel? Thats an interesting one, I daresay my Patterdale will have me up on cruelty charges next for taking him out in the rain and allowing him to get wet paws FFS!!

I did take particular interest in the statement that "No-one in their right mind would lay a trail across a main road or a railway line. To have done so would have been an act of criminal stupidity."

Of course those sort of people would never do such a thing........
