I googled this and have been putting hoof oil on the inside. It is working ok, but there’s still sometimes a bit of an issue with balled up snow. What works better? As kids I think we used Vaseline.

Thank you ❄️?❄️

I melt 500ml vegetable oil & 500g lard together into a saucepan, it fills 2 chinese tubs & I let them set in the fridge over night - I paste that on & my boy with front shoes on & he doesnt get balling for most of the day & even later on if he does, its minimal & falls out easier.

Two recommendations for lard, better add it to tomorrow’s Tesco order. Will work my way up to touching it!!

You wont have to! That's why I use the amounts that I do - a 500g block you can unpeel the edges & flip it straight in a saucepan - the its poured straight into a tub & put on with a hoof oil brush. No touching required! ;)
