I was reassured that the lads were fine in the snow when I saw this photo today of how much snow had settled on their backs when it came down, which means they can't have been loosing too much heat! This was about 10pm on Tuesdaynight when we had several inches of snow:

and this was our road yesterday:

Normally we get 1-2 inches maximum and almost always gone by morning!

awww they look happy enough though dont they....good lads.

yeah you have it the same as us...pretty bad huh and there is more to come and now they are saying they are rationing grit...like i've seen any of it since the bad weather...ermm no

they are lovely boys though Dubsie

there is a field near me and not one horse has left that field in at least 3 months and none are rugged. your boys look happy enough.

Thx, they are nice boys, very well mannered too. Just such a shame we've had such rotten weather for them - arrived late November, and just been wet or ice or snow since! Normally the NF wouldn't be rugged, he's always lived out and a very good do-er but our field shelter's ordered but not arrived yet so he's having to make do with the hedges and trees (quite good and well sheltered). Bet the shelter arrives and the temp goes up to 10!

We did see a gritter down the end of the road (behind camera in bottom picture) yesterday but as hardly anyone is out and about so it didn't have any effect. OH has plans for converting his buck rake to a snow plough for his tractor...watch this space if it snows hard on Sunday!
