Just cancelled camp which is very disappointing. Will try and SJ on Sunday instead. Now glaring gloomily at the blizzard outside my window.

Ah well. I would have booked a Sj lesson or there was a clear round but weather says -3 so I won’t go now. There’s a bit of rain today so hoping I’ll at least be able to ride over the weekend.

Yesterday was supposed to be my mid week riding day. I managed a walk out in hand then a short 45 minute route on the microcob before my hands and toes yelled for sympathy. Came home

Its just relentless rain here today with huge puddles on my fields. Fortunately the vet has given the all clear for baby cob to crack on after he tweaked something a few weeks ago so hoping to get him out for some short hacks to start building him up again slowly.

Our snow was really gone in a flash but it's been really heavy rain today. Looking cold/windy/rainy this weekend. I know I keep thinking to try hacking again but it hardly inspires enthusiasm even if I wasn't also working on building my confidence/feeling anxious about it.

Plan is to be in the school with share horse tomorrow and Saturday but I'm not sure how much riding will get done. Might just go visit him and give him a nice groom instead!

Find some more trails to explore! This was last weekend. It suddenly feels like spring but more snow due next week.

It looks like I’m going to my first American jumping show at the end of this month. They go for three days, school one day and compete two. It’ll be a whole new experience for sure (and make eventing seem very cheap!!!)

I haven’t jumped above a foot since October and am sooooo rusty so I’ll be doing the smallest classes I can enter.

Rainy weekend here. Normal dressage lesson tonight and jumping lesson tomorrow with Little Madam and competing dressage with Mr Metronome and show jumping with Little Madam on Sunday. Not looking forward to spending a whole day in the rain, but the venue does have a pizzeria, so I think I'll treat myself to some warm food.

Very little. The snow has made it to my area this morning, the forecast says it will go this afternoon but there is a lot of it already, and it's still snowing. potentially a lesson on Sunday, weather permitting. I apologise to all, I moved yards to one without an indoor school on 1st March, so this weather seems to be my fault!

I hacked out on Wednesday in sleet and schooled this morning in a freezing wind but this afternoon the sun is out so I might do a bit of gardening. The Malvern Hills have a coating of snow but we seem to have missed it. Nothing planned for the weekend except lunch on Sunday with a "dressage" friend and her OH, we'll get told off if we talk about horses too much! Enjoy a weekend by the fire if you can't ride, soon be summer and too hot to ride!

Please do a full event report Michen! I'd be so intrigued to hear about an American show.

Not much on here this weekend, all plans have already been cancelled by the organisers so if the ground is good enough I'll do a weekend of hacking.

I was going to take Alw to a pole-work clinic but it has been cancelled. I am rather glad as we still have about 6 inches of snow, in spite of a good melt, and she hasn't been ridden this week due to snow from Tuesday evening. Sun is out now and I am hoping that enough snow will have gone to make an off road ride safe. I am also hoping to bring senior horse back into work; in hand first. He is a bit of a hothead so we need sensible surfaces for walks out!!

Still plenty of snow here so no external training going on. I have been 'thinking about' some working equitation as that kind of interests me and fits with the things I enjoy - training events are pretty far away but I have been working on some of the stuff included in competitions. Today we didn't quite do that but definitely did stuff in the spirit of working equitation as Alw was required to do a 'proper' job in going up the hill to check for any sheep in trouble and to see that our hill pony herd are in good order. She hasn't ever been out in deep snow before and thought it quite exciting but was amazing at navigating away from drifts and insecure ground. The trees are encased in ice and it really is like another country on the Welsh hills. I felt she met the working horse brief today :) :) Gates, check; snowdrift and dodgy ground avoidance, check; straightness and honesty in the face of icy snow (ETA - blowing in her face!), check; steadiness around excited feral ponies, check. Job done lol :cool: I am really very proud of my little mare. Blurry photos, sorry and it is hard to convey how much good sense and trust is needed to do the job we were doing today - I know it looks really tame!

Lovely morning here in the south east after all the rain. Was nice to go out for a ride on baby cob - until the rodeo. Whacked my head so new hat time.

Vet says he's sound. Didn't feel quite right under saddle still and physio already booked for tomorrow. Hoping it's just young pony "enthusiasm". This old lady is less enthusiastic - I don't bounce these days

The best lameness spotter on the yard commented a couple of days ago that Chilli is looking “very sound” in the field, so I decided to pop him on the lunge and see how he looks. The answer is - absolutely fabulous! Moving really well, stepping out confidently in front on both reins, and keen to go on the right rein whereas he tried to avoid that when I first spotted his lameness a couple of months ago. Over the moon is an understatement.

The vet did say I could ride in walk in the school but it felt sensible to stay off his back while the oedemas heal. We’ve got an in-hand clinic with Diane Thurman-Baker in a couple of weeks so I’ll see how that goes then maybe hop on for walk work in April. Fingers crossed…

Not only did we find a new great place to trail ride but it had a load of xc jumps! No photos of that but Bog was very very happy as was I. Just tiny but super fun. Pepper and I did a three hour hike beforehand. And I bought a trailer! Old but good, it’s going straight for a service. They are hideously expensive here, I’ve paid the same as you would for a brand new ifor 510 and it’s a 20 year old trailer. Next up- truck hunt!
