Put the turnout hood on my boy for the first time last night and left him in the stable all night (to make sure it didnt slip). Let him out this morning and he went nuts. He does tend to gallop about a bit, but with his hood on he rolled about 5 times!! And seemed to be rubbing the side of his face a lot while he was down, and throwing his head about as if the hood was irritiating him.

Do you think its just a case of him getting used to it?

On a good note - I wanted to see him roll to see if it moved, it didnt!!

Seeing as I got it to stop her mane getting rubbed I don't know which is worse.

I had the same problem with mine. I had a nice lady down the local saddlery sow some extra sheepskin (like the numnahs type material) all round the inside on his nose. Now it doesn't rub!

I use the Snuggy horse pyjamas hood under a Wug Plus turnout and it never rubs his face.

Although supposed to 'not be for turnout' the pyjamas material is nice and soft (and the pyjamas themselves don't move under the turnout rug either and it's nice to have a horse iwth a clean stomach and tops of back legs !!)

I do turn mine out in individual paddocks though - don't know how the pyjama hoods would last in a field punchup or without a highneck turnout rug.

Ive had no rubbing off mine, ive been using it daily since end of September. In fact so far ive had no probs at all i love my T/O hood. Makes my life so much easier just need to get 2 more now for the other to hippo's, only down side is how much they cost.

Glad your now convinced it wont move, it is worrying at first though!!

Look on ebay for snuggy hoods, their is someone on their selling them at reduced prices.

I love mine this is the 3yr year of using it and it is a blessing. My boy rolls and it stays in place and keeps him CLEAN.

They're always really helpful, so perhaps you could contact them to see if they can adjust it or sew something into the nose (they have some lovely fleece with little sheep on it!!!!)
