Anyone got one?

I had a feel of one at Badminton and thought it felt like lycra leggings, surely not that breathable or comfy for long?! Also are they robust for ponies that like to throw themselves on the floor to grind their withers into the dirt...!

They have 25% off all orders over the BH so now is the time to order if Im getting one!

I have one and a rambo hoody. Definitely prefer the rambo, its a lot cooler and tougher too. I like snuggy hoods for shows etc but not to be kept in long term. I also find my one rubs a bit.

Just wrote a full review and forgot to press post :(

I have one on my youngster, she tried one last summer and I got a second this year because she'd outgrown it :) Dwynwe gets a bad reaction to fly bites her skin goes quite lumpy and itchy she does suffer from slight sweetitch too. This rug has been a god send she's so much more relaxed and I love that it full covers her belly and chest which had been problem areas with flies. She is very comfortable in it she lies down and rolls in alot of mud and it's survived haha.

Only con I can think of is I occasionally get a static shock off it when taking it off her haha but she doesn't react to it and 'm prone to static shocks so could just be me :)

I love them, my pony lives quite happily in his most of the year with no slippage and no rubs

What I would say is:

When its very very hot he has an alternative on - Premier Equine hoody is currently the fave. In saying that he has had the Snuggy on in very hot weather before and never looked hot and bothered

I have the ones where the hood fits then the rug goes on top, this means there are double layers at the chest, if I were buying again I would go for the bug one which has the neck that fits to the rug with Velcro

I don't use the versions with the face, I have the ones that end behind the ears

I have cut the belly flap connector bit in the girth area (the long part that joins the chest to the belly and goes between the front legs) and added Velcro so I can change the belly part (only) daily as pony is a horizontal wee-er and I find the cleaner the rug the less midges get attracted (you can buy the belly parts from Snuggy or cannibalise them from torn ones bought on ebay)

I always remove the hood daily for even just a few minutes to let the mane get some air, I am convinced that doing this means pony doesn't lose any of his mane (and he never has)

Overall I think they are pretty unbeatable, they are quick to put on after a few practices, they wash very well and the tail cover offers the best protection I have found yet. I use them as under rugs in the winter too

My Section C has barely scratched since his Rambo Sweetitch Hoody went on. It has one slight rip, but that's where one of the other horses bit him :p Other than that it's so far doing amazingly well as he is usually a rug destroyer. Check the link in my sig to see his FB page, there are plenty of pics on there of rugs he's destroyed (his own and other horses...)

The only problem I found is that the neck piece is a bit long. It is supposed to go over his ears but slipped the first day and covered his eyes. I fold the ear piece back over his neck now. Doesn't seem to have made a difference to effectiveness :)

He's got the rambo SI hoody already, just could do with a second so washing it is easier and it rubs his shoulders so I tend to put it on at 4/5 o clock and take it off in the morning.

I had no luck with a snuggy hoods with mine. Firstly, despite being altered a few times the hood wouldn't stay in place and covered his eyes. After he got a sore eye the hood went in the bin. The body part was fine in dry weather but when it rained it held water and got heavy and slid back digging in at the withers and twisting his tail. I ave up on it. However my friend has one and has no problems so it must depend on the horse's shape.
I find Boett the best but I have a Premiere Equine which are more cost effective for him.

My chap doesn't have SI as such but does get itchy on the summer (vet said not SI) anyway I have used various rugs on him and at the moment he has a sweet itch head on with an Equi Theme beott type rug and this works really well for him. The Rambo rug was useless for my chap

My 2 mares have them and I love them.

Neither have SI but react very badly to fly bites and these solve the issue very well.

My boys wear normal fly rugs as aren't so sensitive!

I had a sweetitch horse on loan last year, he had one of the Rambo sweetitch rugs (baby blue on with the infused repellent) and he still proceeded to get down on the floor and rug back & fourth until his stomach and sheath bled! For his mane and tail it was great but as far as stomach coverage is concerned it is too loose and the only thing I could see doing the job would be a Boett or Snuggy hood as there is no room for flies to get between the rug an stomach.
