.....that had nobody to hack out with this evening because you have no friends

Did you have an enjoyable ride out, everyone back in one piece?
grin.gif

I did half a hack on my own, does that count? I met up with a friend, we went and had a canter though the woods but hacked on the road on my own. It was lovely and Bodey seemed to utterly enjoy himself.

I generally hack on my own, as I usually have no one to go with :-(.
But part of me likes the time on my own with no one to bother me!

I was extra proud of my boy tonight, as he did not bad an eyelid when 2 massive orange low loaders, one with a digger on, came up behind him on the main road! The policeman following them was a little surprised at his lack of reaction I think!

I dont mind hacking alone.... but prefer company
smile.gif

I always ride for a shorter time when alone.... but could go on forever if with a person I enjoy chatting to.....

For the above reason, Merlin likes to go it alone!!!
smile.gif

Oh go on then you get a point for that, you hacked on your own so you qualify hun! lol

I went in the school first and then went round our village, thankfully we didnt meet any tractors and she was good girl although she decided to jump the road hump (sleeping police men or what ever there called) we have some rubber ones down this track and one of the sections had come off, so just the metal rail twinkling in the sunlight, she decided to jump this when normally she just walks over it
grin.gif
hence it was slightly eventful!

Used to do a lot of hacking alone and when people asked me if I was bothered about company I always told them that I was sat on my company!

I didn't get the chance to as Fella had a little nick on the side of his face where the bit touches, and I didn't want to risk it hurting him, so we took him for a walk around the park instead.
Cue my arm feeling like dying as I tell Fella "No really, this is meant to be a walk not you eating everything in sight. You're meant to be loosing weight on this walk, not putting extra on!"

well that is dedication for you lol you get double points for that!

Are you back riding Sol now? sorry I don't have chance to keep up with the lastest on him, if so that's great news.
smile.gif

I didnt ride tonight as D was having the lump of metal put back on his tootsie, but probably wouldnt have with the fab weather we've just had. I dont have any one to hack out with but tbh i much prefer to go alone. Its 'our' time to go and relax and enjoy ourselves. Plus we have our chats, well me chatting to him, and can go where we want, when we want without having to worry about anyone else.

So what you mean is he took you for a walk!

Half a point each for that effort.

Hahaha yeah that sounds much more like it.
I am knackered, Fella, don't think he even bothered breaking into a sweat the lazy gitbag!
Aaah horses, you've gotta love 'em, otherwise you would end up killing them!

Talking of hacking out alone, I thought I should make everyone aware that a short while ago my friend and her horse were attacked by a swarm of bees up at Brickhill woods near Woburn. They were hanging from a branch and she must've disturbed them on the way past. The rider fell off and the horse bolted down the road for home!! Luckily I was out with some others on another ride and caught the horse just as she was heading towards the A5!! They were both unhurt, but the horse went into terrible shock and had a steroid injection as she'd been stung hundreds of times, it was awful to watch. So please please if you see a swarm of bees hanging around don't go anywhere near it and try not to hack out on your own if possible, its things like that happening that make me wonder if its really worth the risk??

Gosh that is terrible! stung a 100 times! the poor horse, that could of put him off hacking out for life!

Was the rider stung?

I meant she, I'm terrible for that, I always refer to everyone horses as he, its just easier sometimes lol

Yes she was stung a few times but luckily she had a coat on at the time so they couldn't sting right through it. She had a new bodyprotector and was wearing it for the first time so she thinks she was jinxed!! She said she didnt know what was going on and the horse just started going mad and was bucking and rearing like mad. And when she fell off and looked there was masses of bee's all over her! I said it must've been something like out of a horror film. She won't hack out on her own now though and I don't blame her after that!

Sounds terrible, wondered what set the them off to suddenly attack, did the local council come to distroy the nest?

T and I had a mixed ride - first half plagued by horse flies - evil little b*st*rds - and T's refusal to work properly (I asked him to collect a bit once we were in the woods and the flies had gone). He had a bit of a paddy but once he got over that he went nicely, so I let him relax and we had a lovely canter home
smile.gif

It thundered most of the time while we were out but was really warm - it's now thunder & lightning here!

The local council were informed but we had no feedback from them. We tend to avoid that track now as there are ways around it, even though it is a public bridleway. The council are pretty poor round our area, lots of us have complained about the overgrown bushes and fallen down trees and they seem to stay there for months and months before anything is done!

I didn't go as far as I wanted, as it was SO hot and humid. The thunder held off, but was rumbling around sounding rather like someone pushing a large box around the back of a big empty lorry. H was not too fazed by it, but seemed a little puzzled.

We only stayed out for about an hour and then had a bit of a YEEHARR jumping session in the field, which we both enjoyed.

Looks like I'm on my own again tomorrow, as the OH is having her hair 'done'. Apparently it's impossible to ride after having this operation, dunno if it's something to do with anaesthetic, like after you've been to the dentist
confused.gif

Anyway, here's hoping the thunder's passed, so H and I can have a proper ride.

hacked the horses out on my own

baby horse is partiularly stupid rears and spins at plastic bags but train going past on the main edinburgh to london line arnt a problem at all !!!!!

QR - I haven't read many replies so sorry if I am repeating people!

I used to hack my old boy on my own loads and I loved it but part of that was because he was a good boy, abd even when he threw one I knew I could deal with it.

My new boy however I have only hacked on his own a handful of times purely because he neighs a lot and I find it unerving and when he throws when I sometimes end up on the flooor which isn't fun. But he is only 4 so not so wussy eh?

If I want to get to a good school, I have to hack, so off we go! The folding bed in the forest (cf earlier thread about laws of physics that come into effect when your pony makes a sudden about-turn at speed) is old news now, so we walked by with only a slight head-turning.
