So am I too big!?

Just saw the post below and never really thought about it, but looking at a couple of photos....I may be. I have had the beast for 5 years, and have been the same height and weight. Anyway... I'm 5'5 and about 9 stone...she is 14.1 ish...

Don't have any other photos on computer...

you are defo not too big for him...you fit him nicely as your legs are the perfect length for applying effective aids.

if you relax your lower leg and sit up more in the saddle your lower leg should come back more so you have more of that straight line from your heel, hip and shoulder....dont force your heel down as this will slouched you in the saddle and throw your whole lower leg forward..like a hunter seat.. i tend to do that to on a forward going horse that i like to sit quiet to....but you look good on him!! xxx

This photo is actually I think 3 years old....and I think my lower leg is now worse! Will try to get some more recent photos from the side. As she is quite fizzy, I tend to try to have a very deep seat as she gets very whizzy! I think I may grip for life with my knees too...damn!

makes sense what i said in my last few sentances then hehe!..you'l find that if your horse is a bit to forward or fresh, then you should find that if you sit up tall grip gently with your knees, relax your seat and keep your heel off but 'back' into that straight line from heel, hip shoulder..its much more secure and easier to handle.

Thanks helenhorse! Will get OH to do some recent photos over the weekend if we can find the right cable to attach the camera. I am also quite one sided so think I often slump through my hip - and she is bent anyway (because I am I think!)
I didn't think I was too big, but from other posts it was possible. I have to say, I think she is the perfect size for me, I hate biggies!

hehe, shes an attractive mare!! if at first you find it hard to keep your leg back then try shortening your stirryos a whole or two:):) good luck hun cant wait to see her!

Don't worry you definitely don't look too big on her. I'm about 5'9 and my pony is only 14.2. I look way, way too big on him but you have nothing to worry about you look fine on him.

Yay! Ok....just couldn't figure out how someone who was 5'2 could look out of place on a 14.2hh and I seem ok.....maybe because I have midget features! (And maybe because its a CC saddle - they take inches off of you!)
