Just need to let out my annoyed-ness.

I ran out of chaff last week so went to get some more. My feed place had nothing that was molasses free so I got a bag of happy hoof instead. The ingredients list was rubbed off a bit but I didn't see any molasses.

Anyway when I got home I googled the ingredients as I saw 'Molglo' on the bag. BLOODY MOLASSES.

WHY!? I think its disgraceful that all these types of feeds are branded approved by the laminitis trust. I knew as soon as I opened the bag there was something sugary about it.

Sorry just needed to have a rant about me basically throwing money away

Laminitis trust approved logo is something you can pay for............................

Sorry!

Just to clarify this point, whilst companies do pay to gain the Laminitis Trust logo, the feeds still have to adhere to a specific set of nutritional criteria, which includes that the feed has to have less than a certain level of sugar and starch. This means that Laminitis Trust approved feeds will be LOW sugar, but that doesn't mean NO sugar, hence some feeds can contain a small amount of molasses and still meet the criteria. Do remember that molasses is not the only source of sugar in horse feeds so always ask the manufacturer for sugar and starch levels as well as looking at the ingredient list.

Great post, TGM.
For anyone interested, here's a link to the criteria: http://www.laminitis.org/approval.html
