Im so annoyed someone had their vet up to yard to look at their horse. And the vet starts slagging off my management of my mare after the yard owner suggested adding fi in with this horse.

He says that i should never have had her barefoot its cruel thats why she has had lami. That she should not be turned out and still be in, and the person i use to do their feet should not be aloud near horses even though he has no idea who i use and said she is german news to me! The person i use my vet approves of and that she will get ulcers if she stays in any longer. And its funny how since she had her shoes off she is no longer lame on her back end!!!!!!!! She has bone spavins had all the drugs, remedial shoeing nothing worked until winter and shoes off.

How dare that vet just match onto yard and talk about my horse. Had to leave as i would have snapped at him i think!!

Sounds like you reacted calmly! I would have told the vet exactly what I thought of them.
Do they work for a practice? If so, ring them up and explain what they said to the manager, and complain!

Whaaaaat!!! How unprofessional!! If you don't ask for a professionals opinion, they really shouldn't be giving it; especially in that manner and in those words!!

Also, that makes me and my sister very very cruel people, as we have a TB, ISH and a Shetland ALL barefoot. Poor horses, we clearly don't know how to look after them..... Not to mention their feet are in incredible condition and they've never been footsore aside from the week after we took their shoes off....

Whether someone agrees with barefoot or not, there is no way that anyone had the right to say that!!! If he had any concerns, it should have been said "quietly" to you and no one else!!! Arghhhhhhhh

Blimey - sounds like the Vet got out of the customer relations bed on the wrong side. I would def ring the practice and ask to speak to the manager. Ask them to investigate what happened as you feel picked on. Ensure you receive a full and frank explaination from them and if necessary and apology.
At the end of the day Lami or not, owners do what works for their horses. Shoes, no shoes, in or out etc etc etc - if it works for you stick with it!
