I just wondered if anyone else here owns, or is interested in Chinchilla's? :D

I own two, a 2 year old standard grey called Henry who I adopted through a charity when he was 14 months old and a 1 year old pink white called Casper.

Here are some pictures of them both, starting with HRH (His Royal Henry)

Thank you!
As a rule they aren't the most sociable pets however if you are willing to put the time into taming and bonding with them then they do get more sociable, it's just a matter of building up their trust and confidence really!

I used to breed and show them and had 250 at one point. I studied the genetics and was in touch with the fur farms in Canada - unfortunately this was the only real source of health and management information. They were still so new to vets here, I ended up going round various practice's giving talks on them, and our local vets still has my chinchilla bible that I lent them years ago!

Your homozygous white looks a sweetie :D

I have one and he is awesome!
I wanted one for years and got him a year and a half ago, just before Christmas when my OH asked what i wanted and I suddenly decided it was time.

I was amazed by how huge their personalities are - I've had tonnes of GPs, rabbits and hamsters during my childhood, but Pablo is something else!

He rattles his cage door every night when he wants to come out to play and is just so funny. He even tries to steal food off my plate when he's out during dinner

Would love some tips on how to make him tamer. I can now stroke him in the cage and can /briefly/ lay a finger on him when he's out usually, and he is happy to climb all over me but he doesn't really do cuddles.
