So as a potential buyer, what would put you off a seller?

Following on from the other "what puts buyers off" thread . . . if you're looking to buy a pup, what puts you off sellers?

I must admit to never having actually "bought" a puppy . . . ours have all come from rescue shelters (for rather generous "donations") . . . but I do surf the ads and before we got our three rejects I did seriously entertain buying either a lab or springer pup. I was thoroughly put off by sellers who didn't put a price . . . or whose priced seemed either too cheap or extortionate . . . and poor photos go a long way to turning away potential buyers.

I don't mind sellers being picky . . . in fact it says much about how much they care for their pups if they are . . . but certainly don't want to feel like I'm annoying them just because I deign to be interested in their puppies. Nor do I particularly care for being dubbed a timewaster because I didn't automatically sign up to take one of the little tykes.

What about you?

Now that I know what to look for, I would immediately dismiss any pups whose parents weren't KC registered with all the relevant tests in place. If I got good results there, I'd reject if the puppies were not bouncy or were brought up outside or the breeder had several bitches or breeds.

I'm not bothered about KC registered except for the fact that you can check health tests and for me, that will be the most important aspect in future.

The worst thing ever happened to my friends bitch. She had had the puppies about 2 weeks when she and daddy went walkabout on the farm. Daddy came back after half an hour but mummy never came back. They never found her so puppies left without a mum had to be hand reared. As I would say always see the mother this was an accident.
