This season my dressage horse and I have moved up a level (elementary) and he has been ace and is coming on leaps and bounds, so much so my instructor feels I will soon be ready to try some medium!!!

We have been out competing and been get from about 66 - 68% but always seem to come 2nd! This is great but I really want to qualify him for the regional and anyone that takes part in BD will know you need those wins!
So today I took a half day and went to an event down the road, he went well in the first test but was just “nice”. second test felt fantastic and he really stepped up a gear……………… until a large tractor with empty silage trailer drove flat out along the edge of the arena whilst we were doing our free walk (wasn’t so free after that) then to top it off I had a JCB drive by (this is all the equipment used by the venue so you think they would know better). He had a look and got tense but other then that was a star…….a big big big improvement then the old reaction!
I am so proud of my horse and the progress we our making BUT IT IS SO FUSTRATING!!! I feel we are so close but yet so far away as it is out of our hands/hoofs. I know it will happen when its my time but until then I will just have to chew all of your ears about it LOL

Just as I started my first (and only) dressage test, there was a loud peal of thunder and the heavens opened. I got the comment "head nodding" and presumably marks deducted for that. It was torrential rain!

A judge made a comment on one of my sheets once that between the combine harvester (behind the hedge right next to me) and the photographer with the flash I had done rather well!
