just wondering what you all would do. was at a lovely yard until a month ago but moved to be closer to home. old yard 25 minutes away, new yard 2 minutes away. really missing old yard and all people and horses. New yard is ok, I don't hate it and love the fact I can just pop to yard, get my boy in and be home again within 15 minutes. But finding I'm not spending much time there, just doing what I need to do then leave. Would you stay for another month to see if feel better about new yard or would you just spend the extra time travelling and be happy at old yard? Sorry it's long just I'm battling it out in my head all the time. Head or Heart.

oooh I am no help as I am in same situ as you....but I hate my current place....but i think you should give it a few more weeks at least see how you get on its probably because you havent probably settled in yet and you were too used to your old surroundings.

If you really really dont like it after another month or two then yes I would think about moving back....

best of luck

I can beat your confused. You have all my smypathy. I have been at my current yard for an astonishingly long time (Ok 28 years). As a Horse owner I am institutionalised.

I habve moved from Part Livery to DIY and now feel totally tied to my horse as he gets no turnout so I cant have a day off.

Its changed, its too big, I am not happy and I dont know if I should move or sell my horse and have a break for a few years. I have had major change in my life over the last two years and I havent got a clue what I want to do anymore not even enough to make New Years Resolutions.

A month on a new yard isnt very long especially when its December I think you should give it more time.

I'll go against what everybody else says

If I don't like somewhere, I know things will just get worse and worse and I'll end up leaving, it's only a matter of time, so I'd leave now.

Similar to you, I moved mine to a yard 5 mins from home and half the price (part to diy). I liked the fact I could bob back and fall twice a day but I just didn't like the yard. I stuck it out for 8 months, to see if summer was any better. It wasn't

. Moved to a yard with better grazing and a bit more expensive. I liked it but horse didn't settle, so I'm now back on part livery at original yard

I think you know when something is right, if your really not settling then only you can make to decision to stay or move back, i have recently moved after being a previous yard for two years and thought it was going to be really difficult but im loving my new yard very much, it may sound silly but things like this i go back to a pro's and cons list, write down everything i find it normally helps me make sense of things.
Hope you get sorted out.

make a point of spending more time at your new yard...you will not get to know all the people there if you are never around when they are...put in some to get to know them and there horses and im sure you will feel more comfortable...if after you had put in a concerted effort to get to know them....and you still feel unsettled...move back to old yard...at least then you know that you gave it a fair try....

A month isn't long and if you aren't spending much time there you aren't giving yourself chance to meet other liveries or spend more time with your horse.

People get back to their normal routines from next week so you'll have more chance of getting to know everyone.

Is your horse settled? If so, I'd give it longer. Also, was there other reasons for you leaving previous yard other than distance?
