I worked so hard to keep my little tb in work over winter so that he would be fit and able to do stuff this spring when the other mare is just coming into work and now he has selfishly developed a hoof abscess and I can't ride him at the sponsored ride tomorrow!
He has been so good and I love riding him, he is kind and sweet and he will (eventually) jump most jumps after a few trys. He has only really started jumping after being a flat racer. I feel so confident on him and even if he does little silly bucks I feel pretty safe.
I was really looking forward to taking him gently around the 7 mile ride tomorrow and trying some of the jumps with a lead from my friend and even took him xc schooling last weekend. Now he has to have a couple of weeks off and I am gutted.
I know I'm throwing my toys out of the pram but my other options are limited to- retired, unfit lame one (wouldn't really ride him but he's there!), unfit, fat hairy bucking one who is just back into work on the ground but been ridden yet and I might be bucked off repeatedly (also not fair to take her) or the recent acquisition (sp?) mare who is quite whizzy, pops a small jump but I have no idea how she will behave as have only once cantered her with another horse and had to pull up as she was dropping her head and I wimped out.
I am a wimp really I know I just need to man up and bloomin well get on with it. I will take said mare for a canter today with the lanky one (being ridden by nice sharer) and see how many times I can fall off.
Can I have some cake? Or maybe there is some room in Stazaan's Whelk bucket?
