My vets, who I have had a few run ins with but we seem to have smoothed out lately, had a picture of some puppies on their FB page saying they desperately needed homes. I sent the link to a friend who is half looking and she called them. Turns out it was an advert, on behalf of a client, for £900 cocker x poodle pups, who the woman hasn't been able to sell, not surprised at that price!
I have just put a vitriolic vent on the ad, what an example to set. I really don't actually want to change vets while my old dog is still alive though...but I may have to.

And they have instantly deleted my message. It wasn't rude, just to the point. Dammit, now I have to change vets.

Yuck. We are frequently asked to display ads for puppies for sale and I frequently cause offense by refusing. Rescues, strays and rescue fundraising events only on our board. And one single local dog trainer whose methods I approve of. :o

Aside from anything else they are leaving themselves wide open to a client considering the advert as 'vet endorsed' and it coming back in their faces if the pup turns out to have a health problem...

I would have a real problem with that too and would feel duty bound to change my vet even though I would probably be cutting off my nose to spite my face.

As Blackcob said advertising at the vets could be considered a vet endorsement, sometimes I think vets have no idea the scale of the problem.

I don't think it's cutting nose off .....

I once changed from a vet i was loyal to who was treating recurring earmites on my cat. Changed vets and the new vet said she would take biopsies... turns out it was advanced carcinoma... livid.

I met a lady at work yesterday who I know. She is having one. They are going to their new homes at 6 weeks and have had all their injections! I told her it might be worth going and doing a bit of research on getting a puppy and the age they should move homes and when they have their jabs. She has never had a pup before. Poor things.

one of the vets local to me often has puppies advertised on their facebook page and in the surgery because their practice manager breeds them and does not always have homes lined up before they are born-that it head desk stuff for me.

we only allow the rescues we do work for to advertise animals, if a client comes in who has an adult animal they have to rehome for some reason then we direct them to the rescues we do work for.

I wonder if the vets realise they are going at 6 weeks and being advertisd as fully vaccinated. can you PM the vets to me OP?

it\s all about the £££££`s :(

breeders should have homes lined up before they plan a litter

also agree that it `appears` vet endorsed when on their noticeboard .
