So dissapointed to see this :(

Its a dressage clinic I'm not sure what the issues are.

You like the line up and go or don't like the line up and avoid. I did skim read though so have prob missed something v important.

where there is money to be had and eedjits willing to throw it away you can be sure to find Pat and Linda. Is nothing sacred these days?

"Pat Parelli is known worldwide as the founder of Parelli Natural Horsemanship, and his ability to transform extremely challenging horses in any discipline into willing partners kept him constant demand."

how do you do this Pat??? keep them without water until they drop down dead, hit them in the head with a metal clip, totally confuse the hell out of them....???

silly me - of course you do !!

Linda and Pat Parelli will also be contributing their vast experience with equine behavior, psychology, and training. In recent years, Linda Parelli has devoted herself to the study of classical dressage with dressage master Walter Zettl. Through this collaboration, and using her extensive knowledge of equine psychology, she has developed a systematic way to teach contact with the horse. Following the classical training scale, Linda Parelli’s “Game of Contact” provides a step-by-step method to train a horse to willingly seek contact with the bit, as well as solve problems associated with the bit.

I wonder if that game involves socking the horse in the teeth with the bit instead of socking it under the jaw with a lead rein clip.

Dressage training needs Linda Parelli like it needs a hole in the head!

I'm with you all the way Marydoll, say hi to Rab for me.

I have not seen anything of the parellis except a couple of episodes on tv. How do people know he does these things to the horses?

It's in the videos he sells to people. Yes, they charge people to watch them abuse horses.

I don't study Parelli at all but the things I am aware of are:

witholding of water to create dependence and thereby compliance

wiggling a lunge line to cause the clip attaching it to the headcollar to hit the horse with maximum possible force under the chin, and teaching the owner how to increase the amount of force she was using to do the same

hitting a clearly upset one eyed horse to make it focus on her

tying a stallion's mouth to his knee at a public demonstration in front of thousands of people because the horse was difficult to get a bridle on and he was demonstrating how to cure it.

Really?? And then people actually do as they say?? I thought they looked really good on tv and was going to give it a go with my moody mare but I didn't want to pay the prices anyway, I def won't now if that's true!!
My girl takes to praise not to force in anyway!!

Any trainer who promotes the thinking that their way of doing things is the only correct way is not a good trainer in my opinion. You have to have belief in your methods of course, but also realise that there are other ways out there that you can learn from.

Mr Perelli is way too closed minded to ever be considered a good trainer in my opinion.

CPT i was really quite upset, i feel almost betrayed by people i held in great esteem :(

Hopefully marydoll worked out my post was a response to tallyho! otherwise it could be taken to have a different meaning :o

I don't know what the motivations are for this partnership, money, I suppose, but it does seem an odd one. I don't think anyone will change the egos in the midst of parelli, others have tried :o
