Thanks for all your replies to last post.
Would love to give showing a shot, but with this being my first whippet I wouldn't really know how nice he is. I mean he looks great to me and I think he's well put together, but would love to know what everyone thinks of him?
He wasn't too keen on standing for me and is a bit tense through the back in this pic, but when relaxed he has a nice downward slope and outstretched hind legs.

He looks good enough to show, I would if he was mine. Can't really pass comment though, a) I don't know what the Whippet standard calls for and b) the photos not square.

Get yourself off to your local Ringcraft Training classes!!!!
They will teach you how to handle him for the ring, tell you where the local shows are, help you enter and generally have fun with him!
Just remember that you will always be taking the best dog home and you will be ok!!!!

Has he got light eyes? What's his breeding?

I'm not in the know about what qualities are required for showing, only that as with all breeds, they're very picky! The only way to find out if he's good enough is to go along and give it a go....judges will soon tell you his good/not so good points.
And of course, whatever they tell you, you know that he's just perfect!

He is beautiful....looks in lovely condition...can we see some more piccies please?!

take a look at this website for show quality whippets www.nevedith.co.uk - your boy looks nice - just a touch flat at the wither perhaps but I think it could be the way he's standing - get some ring training and watch how seasoned exhibitors do it - good luck !
 
He's absolutely lovely. I have no clue about whippets, but I did notice the slight dip in his back, although that could well be the way he's stood. How old is he?
 
He looks good enough to show, would need a touch more weight if you can for the ring...i struggle to get weight on my Whippet as she is as mad and active as your boy sounds from your other posts!! Find a good training club and go to some open shows with him, showing whippets is hugely popular and the entries at the championship shows are massive but most people are very friendly

Prose - He is 9 months old

Springfallstud - Yes he does tend to run himself up a bit light, but he is such an active dog. He just runs circles around the field at full pelt when we go out, never stops, plays constantly and into everything!

I was going to cut him, but he's just too nice looking, kind of the reason I wanted to know if he was good enough to show. If he's not a good standard then it seems pointless keeping his bits - although I wouldn't want to lose his character.

All the whippets I've seen who resemble William in conformation and markings have those eyes too! Very different to my other boy Eli, who's put together altogether diffferently, and has very brown eyes.
 
Yes you can show neutered dogs!!
You have to send a letter from your vet to the KC to say that a dog had 2 perfectly normal testicles, and there was not a medical reason for the castration.
For a bitch the vet has to say that she was speyed, and everything was normal.
Then you can show! I always took a copy of my KC 'permission to show' letter with me .. just incase it was ever needed. He did quite well in the ring as a castrate .. and I didn't 'do' him till he was 5 years!!
