It doesn't sound significant, really does it...
Performance trimming, opposed to pasture trimming is still in it's infancy in France. There is a LOT of controversy regarding hoof trimming, and who can and can't (actually it is now law that only farriers or vets can perform a therapeutic trim on a horse).
Pinto was unshod for the majority of the 8 years he was with me, similarly Blitz and Tartine are also unshod, and although I love my farrier to bits, he does insist on cutting away the frog and bars every time he does a trim.
Anyway... just by chance I found a reference to natural trimming on the internet, but quickly discounted the trimmer (Strasser), but after a bit more hunting I found out that there are two qualified DAEPs in Alsace!
The more experienced one has his books full, unfortunately, but the chap who qualified last year is willing to come out and do a full assessment for my two.
Fortunately neither of mine have "bad" feet, as they've never been shod, but it will be interesting to see how it evolves.
(and at last I won't be trying for weeks to get hold of my farrier)
I'll do full foot photos tomorrow as a reference/baseline
