masquerading as private people selling their one and only"beloved horse", only to find out later they're selling horses all over the place.

Is there a dodgy dealer list somewhere?

All I want is a good healthy horse from an honest person. Getting fed up of looking now.

That is a very good tip - and exactly what I have done to find them out. There are many repeating adverts found here on House and Hound.

If anyone can help that would be great.

I am after an established happy hacker 15hh- 16hh, not cobby or dead to the leg/hothead and good in traffic.
Eastern region or within 70 miles (mature lady going back into riding after a 20 year break).
I'd be really grateful if anyone can help me, as I'm getting myself into narrow scrapes from dealers advertising "dream horses".

Agree that there should be a list of 'dodgy dealers'. It's really difficult to tell sometimes whether people are telling the truth or not, if like me you're a bit out of the loop. I was so lucky last year when I bought Che, found a really honest dealer locally to me, I wouldnt hesitate to recommend her to anyone. I know she has a TB for sale at the moment, not much money but is only suitable as a happy hack/riding club horse. I know we're not allowed to name names on here but wouldn't it be useful if we had a way of warning each other of who to avoid

My horse would be perfect for you but

He's 18hh and he's not for sale

sorry not much help.
You are looking for what a lot of other people are after, and they don't come up too often and when they do, they don't hang around for long.

Good luck in your search, but be prepared for a long wait

There should be some worth looking at within your budget though

It can help to google their phone number -will bring up any previous internet adverts....

wish I had thought of that before. I have recently bought a horse from a dealer who offered a 3 month money back warranty. The horse was sold to me as a safe quiet ride with no vices. I saw her ridden in the arena and she looked to be fine. However, since getting her home she has been totally unpredicatable and threw me into traffic today which is the last straw. I contacted the dealer who was anything but helpfull and basically said that if I took the horse back it would be quiet in the arena. I am not going to be riding in the arena though so I told him I would like a refund. I have googled this guy and find that he has featured in H&H previously for misrepresentation and passport offences. What can I do as I can't sell this horse on to another person.
