Cut a long story short, I was at a terrible yard and moved to an even worse yard. Fields were horrendous, was promised a school and it never came, poo picking and ragworting was never done, the YO kept ponies locked in stables for months at a time because they escaped and she kept breeding them for no reason, new horses came from sales on a weekly basis and just dumped in our field, the list goes on...

Anyway my poor friend who is still there texted YO tonight to ask once again about the poo and ragwort ridden fields. She got this reply 'the fields are bigger than your normal horse paddocks, so you don't need to poo-pick as it's more spread out, its only when your in very small paddocks that u need to be cleaning them, the ragwort will be dying off now plus its hard to keep on top ov it because its biannual so it won't appear next year try not to worry over things xxxx'

OMG. When ragwort is in its dying off/dead stage thats when the horses are most likely to eat it! Is there any chance your friend could come to your yard? Even if its just grass livery, anywhere has to be better than the place she's at now.

Exactly!! No she doesn't do grass livery so she's desperately searching for other yards nearby. Such a shortage round here took me nearly 3 years to find the perfect yard. Nightmare!

The woman is absolutely ridiculous and shouldn't be in charge of a pony never mind several AND a livery yard. My poor friend, hope she gets out soon.

She has been doing, but it it's a big field and none of the other liveries will help her so she's just at her wits end!

Years ago I was at a yard like this (didn't realise when I viewed as was winter). Found abother livery there who wanted clean field, asked YO to go in small paddock no-one else wanted (as had rw & loads muck) with her, we cleared it, cleaned it & kept it clear every week. Ended up with best paddock, thankfully too small for any of the lazy liveries (or YO horses) to join us.

Unfortunately my friend can't do this as more horses are just added to fields without the livery's being asked first. It's a very bizarre set up. Every night when I go to my yard I'm just so happy that I've left!
