Rode my pony today for the first time in ten months. Only for ten minutes as that's all he's allowed at first but it was blooming brilliant!

Long story, so to summarise: Had op to remove a sequestrum. Got stress laminitis whilst in the vet. Months of box rest, hard work, money and no riding.

Can only start him off slowly but I don't care. I figure I've been patient this long. Just happy to be up on him again!

Aw I bet you are so pleased. How regularly has the vet said to ride? Supposed to be a lovely weekend so hopefully you will be on board again

I had to go off and Google 'sequestrum', shows how much I know! Well done for your patience, 10 months is a long stretch of time and work. You must be chuffed to bits, onwards and upwards!

If he doesn't show any signs of soreness I can get on him again on Sunday! I really didn't think I'd be so excited. He's my first horse so It's been a massive eye opener and a long ten months. Really thought I might lose him so even if I can only ride for a few minutes every few days I'm happy!

Hi Gala, I didn't have a clue either! Think he got kicked which caused a chip/change on the bone just above the pastern. He had an opening above the coronet that wouldn't heal so had to go in for an op. He had a cast fitted and developed lami two days after.
I've learnt a lot in my first year of horse ownership!
