Last week I was being a bit unenthusiastic about riding/not having time to ride that week, what with frozen arena, broken toes etc etc..
Well, I think either it did him good having a few days off (didn't ride for 5 days
) or he picked up on my negative attitude and set out to make me enthusiastic again
because since then when I've ridden he feels better than ever!!
Schoolingwise it's like we've 'clicked' together, and he feels like a dressage horse, seems to understand and do fantastically everything I ask of him, - schooled in our big field at the weekend, and he just felt amazing, working from behind properly into my hand, consistant, and so so powerful! Popped some big cross poles today (first jump in a few weeks) and although he is normally enthusiastic, he can be a little spooky and lack some confidence (especially with arena floodlights casting scaaaary shadows)- not today, felt like he was a rocket
Also did a load of canter work on the tracks and even then he wasn't giraffy, his back end felt really active and he was cantering 'into my hand' if that makes sense.
It's like what has before been 'lightbulb moments' are now constant
Don't think it's just a fluke (hope not
), as we've been working towards it for a while- we have been improving so much as a partnership recently.
Don't really know how I managed to feel unenthusiastic tbh
To break up the monotony of my gushing, here's 2 pics of us at show jumping a few weeks ago (last time I jumped!)

Sorry, really proud.
