I've always had Rambo rugs of varying models and like them very much. However the winter before last I bought Rambo Supreme medium weights and these have been fine on one of my girls but a terrible fit on the other. This has resulted in her getting out of it completely & ripping the liner and also catching herself in the fillet string & skinning her leg.

I made some DIY adjustments to the fillet string & surcingles, got it cleaned etc at the end of last winter & forgot about it until putting it on again recently when I realised it really is too deep in the body for her and generally a poor fit.

I rang Horseware who confirmed that the Rambo Supreme is a much more generous cut so I tried her in my other horses which is a size smaller but it was too small. So today after a bit of a bash on the credit card her new Rambo Original 100g and Rambo Plus m/w arrived and all I can say is WOW :-)

Not only do they fit perfectly - just like her old ones - but the changes they have made are superb. The surcingles now release, the fillet string is elastic and the neck on the Plus is now fully integrated ( so no mane rubs along the seam ) but also the same weight as the rug. BRILLIANT :D

I'm now working out how I can afford to replace my other horses and when I am ever going to be able to afford the new style heavy weights - and no I don't work for Horseware!!

I too have used Horseware rugs for years and can honestly say that allthough expensive IMO they are the best rugs on the market and they last for years. I have just paid approx £240 for a new m/w rambo original, and a neck cover to go with it. I am absolutely thrilled to bits with it. Did you get the free gift of a baseball hat with lights on? An added bonus and a very usefull hat! I also have a Rambo plus which I bought last year. Again, a great rug :-)

I was just think today how much I love my Rambo.

I walked in to the barn this morning to see wet rugs everywhere that poeople had taken off their horses a bit damp. Some of them fairly new! Went out to see my girl. 100% bone dry, and the rug is 3 years old.

Don't think I'd bother buying anything else now. Rambo Duos all the way!

Must admit, I've been really pleased with my Amigo 1200 medium weight rug and neck cover today. Mine's been out in persistent rain; ranging from torrential down pour and storms overnight, and today, non-stop constant rain. I fully expected to need to bring mine in to switch rugs but no, she was dry as a bone underneath. I'm amazed and very impressed. Previously, I've only ever bought Rambo's but I didn't like the Duo after buying it a couple of years ago and decided to buy the cheaper Amigo 1200D. I haven't been disappointed and the price is better.

Ah TicTac that explains something! I did get something free with LED lights but in my excitement over the rugs I haven't opened it yet.

Spyda I had the Duo when they first came out which Horseware lent me after a c**k up with a sizing label, and I too didn't like it. I also have the liner system for my Rhino rainsheets & I don't like it in them either so I'll definately stick with the Rambos - I just love them so much and the changes they've recently made just make them even better.

My friend recently bought an Optima and after a week the neck lining had completely ripped & it leaked - she got a refund without any fuss but it just makes me wonder if certain models are made in different factories.

Anyway I'm not going to let that thought ruin my happiness with my new purchases :D

I think the Duos weren't great when they 1st came out. But a few people on the yard have them now and none of us have any issues :)

Oh, sounds good - what do you mean about the surcingales releasing? I've developed real OCD about everything since my Broody's injury and would love rugs which did that? BTW I have 2 rambo supremes which I brought 6 years ago and are still awesome..... shame about the OCD though!

Had my Rambo Duo 5yrs now and its one of the original navy ones. Still as good as it was when I bought it. My other horse has the newer brown Rambo Duo with the new mod cons. Just as good and its right, you do get what you pay for.

I've had my Rambo Duo for nearly 4 years now and it is still fab - best fit for my chestnut mare. Last year I decided to get another one as a spare and when the local tack shop didn't have one in her size I bought the Optimo instead. It is a nice rug too but a totally different fit and much bigger. I was going to sell it on ebay but it fits my new grey mare so looks like the chestnut will be getting another duo after all :) I really rate the horseware products, they are really worth the extra money.

Oh, sounds good - what do you mean about the surcingales releasing?

The surcingles have an extra plastic clip on them which would give if your horse got caught up - like mine did :(

It's hard to explain but they have the usual metal rectangle slider on them to adjust the length & then they have another one the same in plastic so it's breakable. The end of the surcingle which attaches to the rug has this plastic clip & is then velcroed on so if the plastic breaks you can undo the velcro & add another plastic clip ( the rugs come with 3 spare clips ).

I can't really explain but it's a genious idea, and although the surcingles are velcroed onto the rug they are attached in such a way they can't come off.

My friend found the same WeeBrown, her mare normally wears 6'6" I think and she had to get a 6'0" Optimo to get the correct fit. Shame it only lasted a week
