....and I got back Victor Meldrew!

He's been grumping very audibly since he got home yesterday. I wonder if this is one of the side affects in anaesthetic in older dogs?
 
I was warned by the vet that a GA could make a dog whiny but it should wear off within 24 hours. I would get in touch with the vet if it goes on longer than that.
 
Well, he seems in much better form tonight -but today he was driving me a bit batty with his stomping round the house, sighing, grumpleing...I figured his mouth and nose might be hurting so was chalking it up to that -but interesting about the GA.
 
i was fostering a whippet dog who had a GA and he spent the evening groaning and grumping, could not settle just wanted to wander round and get annoyed with life. The following morning he was back to normal. It seems to disorientate them having a GA so it may well be that. Or he may hate you for the rest of his life for putting him through a dental and a nose check :)
 
Well, he's still very vocal - he's not whimpering as such...it's more like he's doing more extra sighing, grumple-ing (not quite a growl, more of a "I'm so hard done by" vocal that he does) and just using his voice a LOT more than he used to (but not barking). Even his sleep he's doing a very soft singing (as well as whistling thru his nose - more so now as his nasal passages will be swollen from the endoscope).

It was more upsetting, however - that when I got home from work the day of his dental that he looked at me and jogged off the other direction! :eek::confused: That in itself is completely out of character - but I do realise his anaesthetic was talking there. And also he probably WAS still annoyed that not only did I leave him in the morning with my hubby and NO BREAKFAST but also took Merlin with me in the car. Poor Chester - thinking that not only was Merlin getting to go out for a ride in the car, but was probably going out for breakfast without him! LOL
