SO i want to start hunting...

so, i would like to start hunting, i am in stockbridge and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on everything hunting!
e.g... what to wear (i know the basics but does it have to be white jods?)
most local meetings?
is there anyone out there who would be prepared to 'nanny' me
what do i need to do to join the local hunt?
any info would be gratefully received.

Contact your local hunt and they will be really helpful. People say that as long and your there and reasonably turned out you will be OK "just have fun" but really you want to make sure your horse is washed and plaited, you have a black jacket, stock shirt and stock with plain pin. I wouldn't go white but people do.... I go fawn jodhpurs and black boots. Keep saddle clothes brown black or white and same with your girth if not leather. Above all leave sparkly "bring" at home!!

There is always some one to ride with and every one is generally quite friendly. Take a hip flask with you poison of choice and be prepared to share!!

Above all be extra friendly and enjoy - so many people have such a negative opinion of the sport

Insure your horse is well shod and and you will be warm enough!!!

one quick one... does my boy need to be shod? sounds silly but hes a flat footed tb so trying to make his foot grow and farrier has suggested keeping shoes off at the min x

As long as he's comfortable out over varied terrain you should be fine.
I hunt two of mine without shoes.
