Having just hijacked my husbands account on pistonheads, re another prominent thread on here, and by no means demeaning it, it got me thinking... If your horse was a car, what would it be, and why?

I think mine would be a Jensen Interceptor... Sedate without the throttle applied but the back end has the ability to flip out when the gas is on and often takes you by surprise!

I do love my cars, but horses are my life, there is most definitely a difference :)
 
Erm, short wheel base Defender, I guess :p He is nature's 4x4...

I think someone might have fitted an extra turbo or something though :eek:
 
Don't know enough about cars to name one that suits, maybe a range rover sport, something like a 4wd with a bit more acceleration. Daughters would be an old style peaguot gti - small & nippy & deceptively fast.

Mine would have to be a Panda 4x4.
Loves going cross country and is fabulous at it. Has a wee engine with a big roar when he wants it. Is reliable, safe and can turn his wheel/hoof to anything! :D
 
Mazda mx5, little and sporty likes to go zoom zoom everywhere but generally totally impractical!
 
A TVR which spends more time in the garage than on the roads

And a big dodge ram which can seem unwieldy but has a big old V8 engine under the hood. Huge amounts of power but can also just chug along. A real mans vehicle.
 
A tractor (does that count?)
An Aston martin

and a cortina that had no brakes, no steering wheel, no lights and with the accelerator stuck on.....
 
One of those big yellow earth movers you see moving rocks around in mines...He sounds like one and makes the ground shake when he gallops across the field towards you!!
 
Horse 1 - She would be an old Italian Sports Car, absolutely beautiful but only works intermittently!! Retired to the garage now.

Horse 2 - A hearse! (He is a Freisian!) :o)
 
Big Fuzzy - 3 litre capri :D happily will chug along if wanted, bloody quick off the throttle if required, back end spins on occasions if quick on throttle. Big chunky car, tho streamlined if looked after :D

Tiny Fuzzy - scruffy boy racer car maybe a Saxo, with bolt on goodies for showing off but basically a car mum could use :cool:
 
My friesian would be a lovely black vw karmann ghia, looks cool, don't go that fast, but you just go ahhhhh when you see them, roll on my 40th birthday, cause if it is not sitting on the drive I will throw a huge hissy fit lol.

My haflinger well he is a real work horse so a shogun.

My warmblood, kinda like my old fiat panda has lots of problems.

The 3 welsh d they are nice family cars a focus

The Dartmoor hill ponies, ford fiesta si, nippy with some grit
 
Great thread - especially after reading the PH threads where some of the posters haven't grasped that a horse rider might also have a car... :p

TB would be an Astra SXi has the engine to be fast and lots of fun but is equally happy to tootle :D

WB would probably be a Land Rover - lovely, comfortable and big and on blocks!!

Good breeding, slightly unpredictible, very fast (TB ancestors!), not overally great in traffic, needs a confident handler!!!
 
Hahaha! We have had hours of fun doing this very thing for all the horses at our yard!

Friend's (now sadly no longer with us) big cob was a Volvo estate - lots of staying power and loads of room in the rear! Another friend's quarter horse is one of those flashy American trucks 'fully loaded' with loads of chrome and an amazing paint job. Lots of muscle and power under the bonnet!! My old horse was sporty Alpha - fast and unpredictable, looked very flashy but was ultimately too much car for me! We decided then that I needed a X-type Jag estate - nice looking, fully functional and useful but with power when required! Now I have him ;)
 
G would be a vintage Bentley - needs a little bit more looking after than used to as getting on a bit, but with careful management and a run out of the garage a couple of times a week he goes like the best still :D
Has an aura of 'don't you know who I am' so prob has a personalised plate.
 
would have to be something reallllllly OLD and reallllllly FAST that could easily win a race with any new car on the block, even at 27 years old! and one that has really worn breaks so you have to wait for it to slow down in its own time otherwise it won't stop!!

i dont know much about cars though!
 
I would liken mine to a Triumph Herald :o.

She is great looking, not a type seen often and has a tendency to step out her back end :D.

* My sister used to have a Herald and my abiding memory of the damn thing is when I braked (from not a fast speed) and the back end showed quite determination to take over the front end :eek:.
