I took freddie (TB Loon) to BCA for some schooling and general familiarisation with showjumping with some friends last week.

I first gave him 30ml of So Kalm which did nothing for an hour or so, didnt really chill him out enough, he gobbed the second dose out so I have him another!

He was fabulous upon getting there (usually soaking wet from excitement!) was dry as a bone and chilled out but not sleepy!

We even managed to do some quality work and small jumps and whilst he did want to buck through excitement they were not huge ones, just half hearted playful ones!

I recommend this paste to anyone who just needs to take the edge off their horse without numbing them completely!!

IT really was good stuff!!!

that stuff is miraculous! I used it last year when I went on a sponsored ride as Louis gets so worked up and he sweats and generally bounces and leaps all over the place. It was amazing and took the edge off, he was still excitable but it seemed to curb the nerves and keep him sane...I second that recomendation!

while I am on the subject...does anyone elses horse SHAKE through excitement at all??

Freddie literally gets so excited that his whole body shakes for about 30 mins! - he calms down eventually but its like sitting on a bomb waiting for it to explode?

Only their penis - not so much shake but rather bang on their stomach!!

Glad I saw this post!!! My chappy has been in for 3 months (u possibly read this in one of my posts before?) and need to take him back to Newmarket and was really scared about how he would react travelling and whilst hes there - did u use it before you set off

......Also, do you think its OK to use when we first turn him out so he doesnt go bananas!!

Also, on your other question Oscar doesnt shake but my friends horse does when he gets excited!! Everytime he goes in his lorry to a party he shakes loads. It looks like hes cold but he not hes just v v excited!

I gave him the past an hour before he travelled and topped him up an hour after we got there, he came to his normal mad self when we arrived home lol!!

GT...really!!!! It doesnt affect his penis for your info!! Thats sedalin!!!

it's sold in loads of places just type in Equine America so-kalm paste. I gave it to Louis and hour before travelling too and then gave him the rest when I got there.

ooh good glad it works as im going to buy some for nutter tb, has anyone tried it as a maintenance supplement?-i used some paste hunting once and it was FAB!!yeah zak shakes out hunting, after we have just been for a gallop and we are standing still, its v funny!

indeed you can, its legal for competition I think, and doesnt sedate them just takes that edge off! There is no way I could consider taking fred anywhere "out" without using this stuff, he would launch me!!
