I have been looking at horses with my friend, she is looking for a horse to do dressage on so is looking for one with good paces etc. Well I just can't believe how many of them are lame!!!! She has been asking for videos of ones which sound good and either they can't move (even though have been described as having fantastic paces) or they are lame. We went to see one other day which sounded great, video was a bit grainy but basically looked like it moved pretty well. Went on a 300 mile round trip to be presented with a horse with filled tendons, was stiff on hind end and dragged a toe, so although not hopping lame, I wouldn't have called it sound. The best bit was they were asking £5k and thought it was cheap at that! I'm not having a go at novice people who just wouldn't pick up very subtle things but these were very experienced horse people. Do most people just have no idea or do they just try there luck and hope the people buying the horse won't notice or want it vetting?

We looked for nearly a year for an Arab or part bred to do Endurance ,of the 6 we saw 5 were lame and the 6th bucked all the time.

We finally went to a stud and found a lovely 6 year old. He is now at home in my yard out with the rest of the herd.

People will do anything to sell their horses.
