Ouch that sounds painful...You can compare pics with CCj from when Chocolate picked her up by the bum and threw her back down...She wn't let me post that set of pics on here sadly....
I am trying very hard to be positive about Jonty but it is a horrible place to get a deep cut, she will be on box rest which she hates (off to get some sedalin tomorrow as she really must stay calm)
How much finger did Ernie eat?

not good on body part names.. if you look at your nails, the lighter colour half moon shape bit at the base of the nail, yes the sensitive bit!! i still can't feel it!!!!!!!

Has the vet guessed at a time for Jonty then???

ouchie, my rabbit bit mine off there many years ago and it took ages to regrow...
I just kept it covered in the end until the new nail was fully grown.
vet was non commital, as initially it didn't look that bad to me, apart from the problems of it healing a it is somewhere that bends when the leg moves.
I was shocked when he started poking needles here and there and talking about how deep it was, and it took around an hour alone to access and stitch.
He was not our usual senior partner but very competent I have to say.
If the infection doesn't track up into the joint he reckoned a few weeks; if it does, she may never be rideable again, but that's the worst scenario and we won't worry about that until we have to. He has taken good precautions with his anti biotics and all we can do now is wait. the cuts to her back legs aren't nice either, and I have run out of my special dressings (used them on a different horse last week and no-one thought to tell me to order more..), we will also have to keep her on acp for a while and the bill I anticipate at around £250...
The mare won't be back in with ours again but on it's ownuntil it moves, it was only a temporary livery doing someone a favour (don't, if I'd said no this wouldn't have happened)
