Went for a walk across the fields this morning with my sister and her labrador, my two and the farms sheepdog. It is generally grim and muddy out and they were having a fab time diving in and out of the brook and hedges and generally hooning around.

Then Max appeared from the hedge with a bunny in his mouth!

It was still squeaking which meant the others came over to see what he had got - cue more squeaking from the bunny! Sisters lab in particular was very keen on playing with bunny but Max ran around holding it out of the way. Sister called her lab off and I called Max and told him to leave and he did!!

I got him and the others to follow me while sister dispatched said bunny - it had mixy

.

So Max not only came back but left his 'prize' when asked!!

He didn't kill the bunny - to be fair I expect the only reason he caught it was because of the mixy

- and just walked on when asked!!

Feeling a bit smug as I didn't think he would leave it.

But just to stop me feeling to smug I have had a Death Stare from Sweep as I have moved him so I can sit on MY sofa.....

Very impressive that he gave it up. Mine are horrors if they catch anything, tend to adopt the "swallow it as quick as possible" tactic so I can't get it off them.

Well done Max and well done your sister. I know it's the best thing for them but just cannot bring myself to kill them. I have to go all girlie and find someone else to do it.
MM Dexter doesn't swallow it but it disappears into his mouth completely and then he looks at you as if to say "I don't have anything"!

By the way Slinky how very rude of you to kick a poor ickle doggy off your sofa. Did your mother not teach you to SHARE?

My whipps caught a lot this year, and would have a good old tug a war before I got to them

but OH is quick and effective at the breaking of the neck or stretching it looks more like
crazy.gif
not that I could do it
