So after all the worry, today was D-Day. Armed with a little sedalin, we set off for the pleasure ride around the park where I keep Tarquin. This was the first time he'd been ridden in a group and we've only been cantering since last Sunday. I'd had a really bad week with Mr T and had fallen off Wednesday so was not looking forward to how he'd behave. Hence the sedalin.
But he was an absolute star, he was best behaved out of the bunch and was brilliant cantering. It was so nice to actually push him on not hold him back. He was fine being passed out by the fast riders and I was just made up that we didn't part company.
So after 10k he looked like this

Excuse the way I look

, I was wearing a body protector and so hot by the time we finished. The weather was perfect and the ground great. So glad I did it, now I've got the confidence to go out and do more with him. He such a handsome boy too, so proud.

I'm really careful how much, I gave him a whole tube to clip him thinking it wasn't working and five hours later he was still very much dopey to the point where he couldn't walk in a straight line! Just gave him a bit today more for my benefit than him. I think it wore off as soon as he saw the other horses but helped keep a lid his sometimes erratic behaviour. He's now out in his field looking very stoned indeed!

He's such a poser, I didn't realise the photograper was there until afterwards, thats why I look like a weirdo. Tarquin always seems to spot photographers, I've got a group photo too which I'll put up later when my mate drops it round, when we were stood for that he couldn't take his eyes off the camera.

You must have done the ADR Euston Park Ride? (I recognise the bib!) It's always one of the most popular...
Not sure about giving your horse a prescription sedative though to do a pleasure ride.

Yes it was the ADR ride. As for the sedalin, believe me it isn't something I would do readily and as I am a very experienced rider who breaks racehorses for a living and deals with rehabs at work there is sometimes a time and a place for these things. The health and safety of the horse and rider is always very important to me.
Anyway here is the other piccie of the our group all together.

Nice when it all comes together so know how you feel

, I didn't use any calmer on my beast last week like I normally would, and he was fine after the first 15 mins, we cantered the whole 12 miles near enough passing everyone (after asking of course)

, I was wearing my body protecter as always so was steaming, phew
